in all fairness, Steph never said that she had any sort of trauma after her torture. i'm not saying that she DIDN'T, but her explaination for coming back was that she "got tired of hiding". this could indicate that any trauma she experienced was short-lived. also, the fact that Dr. Thompkins hasn't been seen thus far COULD indicate that Steph snuck away from her.
